Miyerkules...

This lunch date was beyond expectation. We had a rare week day together and we always plan on doing something special on days like this. We are simple people, lunch together in a fave café or restaurant is already a special plan.

We've been eyeing on going to Tom Phat and then Gelato Messina . It has been a while since we first made that plan and boy were we excited today!

Miyerkules or Wednesday is always a good day to go out for crowd-shy us. Actually crowd-hating is more apt but it is kinda negative :-) Wednesday, known to Australia as 'hump day' is looking good.

Today after a few house chores and errands (banking though online still takes time :) We drove over to traffic busy Brunswick of Melbourne. Tom Phat was our first stop. We were lucky to have a good parking right up front! We were looking for a ticket meter and couldn't find any so we read the signs again and hurray it is free 2 hours parking. Wow. Milagro!

I love Tom Phat mainly because the owner Sway is a dear friend. I even loved it before I sampled their food. Now that I have, a couple of times - you have to really peel me off the woodworks, I want to stay and try every thing. Yes they are that good.

For the first time in years, Rich and I ordered the same! We always have our own favourite and we always order different food. Today we both had the famous Chili Caramel Pork Belly w seared scallop and Asian Herb Salad. Oh lala. The taste, the texture and how it makes me feel is beyond words. I. Love. It. Same one I ordered a few days ago when I had lunch with girlfriends. Same one I will order in our future visits! It is that good!

For drinks we both have the Lychee and mint soda. Yum!
Afterwards we went to Gelato Messina in Fitzroy. Though we are not big dessert eaters, we do love their gelato and we did not mind the drive. We had the Miso which is 5 scoops of different flavours. Today's choices were kinda monochromatic...next time I'd get some bold coloured ones :-)

(L-R) We had Greek Tragedy: wild flower honey gelato smashed with honey soaked loukoumades and candied walnuts.
Dulce de Leche: tastes a bit like crème brulee
Pistaschio : a regular favourite even though there is a hint of bitterness! Love it!
White chocolate and peanut butter : How can it be not yum?
Pandan and Coconut: reminds me so much of our Ice Buko in the Philippines (paddle pop, young coconut flavour)

Had to put my hand to gauge the shot because it was blindingly sunny I couldn't see what I was taking. Seriously, the phone was just dark! :-)

This is Greek Tragedy in Gelato Messina's twitter account. Yum!

We sat out in the sun and just relaxed. I love times like this when we are stress-free and just savour the time together.

Thanks my Rich,  Tom Phat and Gelato Messina. God bless you.
