Happy birthday, Ding!

I love my sister very much. Today, her birthday I am reposting what I wrote 10 years ago. The feeling is still the same, just maybe 10x more. I hope you have the happiest birthday ever, Ding! We love you to the moon & back.

❤️

Our parents named her Angeline. Little angel. Those close to her calls her Buding which means Little Buddha. :-)

There is 8 years between us so we never really grew up together. She would even casually mention many times, "I do not remember you, Neng". Not to sound mean or anything but we never get to do things together when she was little. Not until we were grown ups and I moved away from home to build my own.

She would come here in Melbourne for a visit. She'd accompany me early for work and earlier for shopping sprees. We take trains, trams and buses and talk non-stop in Surigaonon. What fun! Revenge with some loud senior Europeans and God forgive them: noisy Asians screaming their way to get the full attention of someone sitting next to them. And that someone would scream back. Mga bungoy man siguro ini sila. Probably hearing impaired? But all of them in different trams? I don't  know, but one thing for sure, it was absolutely annoying.

With Buding I do not have to sit, grin and bear the annoying people, I can be one. Kon todo katawa gajud and if we see mga upaw, kuyang rakan na mu-salute.

Buding is like Papa, disciplined, hard working, organized, loving, affectionate, wise with finances, well-dressed, great singer - all that, with a temper. They are also very kind, generous, funny and source of strength sa amo pamilya. One friend Toni,an American who lives and operates a Pub here in Australia said "OMG, Angie is sooo together, how can you look and smell this good in the morning!".

Buding is the self-appointed eldest now. Reversal of roles. Nabali an kalibutan as she is the youngest. She took over the affairs of the household, the school, the gym, family’s health, etc. She is able. Very able, in fact she'd forget herself to aid others. Much like Mama, too!

Sija an ako pinaka-love na sister. Not just because she is my one and only sister. If I had other sisters I'd still love her more. In times when I falter, she not only help me up but tells me off as well. "Neng, ako role sa kalibutan an madepressed. Dili imo." Just like Judge Judy, she tells me to get over it. She would send me messages of comfort and inspiration when I least expect it. Many times I beam and tell Rich- ako ini bubby sissy. Baby sister. She is also a fan "Neng, I like reading your words kay it is like reading a book, tuwaw dajun ko."

I love a few people but I like fewer. I love and like Buding.

One day once again, we can lie under the ceiling fan and belt out tunes that would bring any house down, raid the factory outlets for a dozen pairs of shoes, or organize a party in the house where over 15 Aussie youth played Pinoy games and broke my spoons, or we can sit in at the Conservatory for all you can eat steak, go to an outdoor zoo and ask for the rancher to put that snake on your neck…or just sit at church silently together and casually say "Neng, you smell like chorizo"…

Buding is one of a kind. No wonder she is Pare Bob’s favourite..

Come back soon Ding, and maybe stay longer, kay kalisod when I do not have anyone to sit in the hospital with. Simbako laman. Or maybe Rich and I can go for a trip again and stay there to savour once more barbq sa pier, sayongsong sa Ipil, dagat sa Mabua, lechon sa Togbongon, latik sa Lanuza. SM, Ayala, or stay up all night, as in all night because we consumed 2 liters of coca cola each, spread eagled on the banig and asked for heaven’s intervention: Diyos ko, Ginoo ko, pakatuyuga na kami!

And how about when we scared Mama of Papa visiting us that night, prompting her to drag her mattress on to the floor with us? Richard was oblivious of the commotion that happened that early dawn in Lanuza. Tuyog sija in the middle bed. The katawa and hagikhik, then tuwaw-tuwaw. Panga-useless gajud nato! Let’s do it again!

I do not really have a lot of friends, but  with Buding, it's more than I need. Friendship is a blessing. I am more than blessed to have a sister and a friend in her. Ab yu my Bading. Happy, happy birthday! May our Heavenly Father bless you always, everyday and forever.

Food Trips this Past Week or so... ♨

I have been good with my no red meat diet even after the holidays. I broke my meat fast by eating Ham on Chrissy and NYE dinners. I always have ham during holidays ever since I could chew! Not gonna change that!☺But start of January I ate mostly Japanese sushi. The tame ones - none of the raw raw ones. My fave are the Seafood Inari, Grilled salmon, grilled scallops and tempura sushi prawns. I think I have outgrown my love for cali rolls haha ☺

I made some progress with having a go at being a Vegetarian for 6 months but after Christmas I made some changes - I will eat some meat IF it is a special occasion and public holiday :-). Also because my iron dropped and I get so fatigued easily.

Here are some of the yummies we had recently...

This is a Food Court treat on weekends. Vegetables and Salted Fish on mixed rice is love ♥

By my Masterchef Richard - sliced and diced red & green bell peppers, organic radish with dash of balsamic oil dressing. It is so yum!

This little thing poking out a bag is a trio of fish ball in a skewer. Takes me back when I was a teenager and no cares in the world... I try to fry some at home but just not the same as the bought ones! This is from the same Food court we got the rice and fish :-)

Rich loved to cook European dishes to my Asian Dishes...this is actually more yummy than it looks! Our mid night din din of Beef Steak Schnitzel with rustic mash and mixed veggies! Yumm-O!
Homemade gourmet sausage rolls with tomato and mango salsa! Google the recipe and they do not fail!

Monday Dinner is Greek in the Williamstown Suburb of Melbourne. The Trio Dips of Tzaziki, Caviar and Capsicum/pinenuts plus freshly baked bread is just so delicious!

This is our entrée Saganaki my fave esp with Arugula (rocket) salad and lots of lemons! Yummmm...

I am not a fan of lamb. Not even when it is juicy, melts in the mouth tenderness, and chargrilled to perfection souvlaki like this. Rich tho is another story :-) ♥

Warm Pita bread to scoop all the juices of the mussels hmmmm (check out the next photo!)

This is my main meal order. Good for two people so we shared but still unable to finish it all...I blame the breads and dips hahaha. The mussels are cooked to perfection with tomato based sauce with hint of paprika ♥ The huge King prawns were a tad overdone and the Morton bay bugs were not as succulent as expected, but the pan fried fish and the strips of fresh calamari battered and fried made up for the shellfish's lack of juiciness... Over all it was a yummy dinner...

Fast Forward next Night...♥☺

Meet Sang Choy Bow. A lettuce ball with chicken mince cooked with hoisin sauce and spring onions...This is my entrée just the day after our Greek Dinner. We went to a new Chinese Restaurant in the same suburb of Williamstown for joint birthdays of friends.

We ordered fave dishes each and then shared! Yum! This is tender beef strips with vegetables!

Succulent King prawns with vegetables in Garlic sauce!

What Chinese meal is complete without this oh so yummy crunchy in the outside and tender in the inside battered sweet and sour pork!
♥☺

We also had some vegetarian spring rolls with sweet chili sauce,  sweet corn soup, Pork Spare ribs in Peking Sauce - ( Richard's favourite!!! ) and Chicken and vegetables.

I really enjoyed the Chinese night out in terms of food and company. Greek Food was okay esp since it is a Date Night but both Rich and I decided if we wanna venture back in Willy we will definitely choose Chinese Dinner!

After 3 straight nights of eating out I needed a little break...just a little I'd still go out if asked hahaha...but today with the help of my new trusted Ninja Blender (a super blender!)  made my first FRO YO! Yo! The ingredients are just this:
Yoghurt and frozen mixed berries!I also added bit of honey because the tartness might turn me off and it did the trick! The best Froyo ever!!!

Oh and did I tell you I loved the sang choy bow I went home with the taste lingering on my mouth so I googled the recipe and made it the next day! It is so delish!!!

And today the iceberg lettuce is really ICEBERG lettuce ...
This was also my lunch today... 30/1/14
