If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean-buyer. If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in! ~~Shel Silverstein

Market Day
I just LOVE Melbourne. I am blessed to live here and to find my love, my home, my work and great friends here in this cosmopolitan city.
Another thing that helped me fall in love with Melbourne right away, are the markets. I just love the rustic, country feel that Melbourne markets give!
The ambience, the sights and smells and sounds invigorates me to no end.
A while back, I have written on how my dear mother would take me to Tabo' - week-end wet market of fresh produce in my good ol' Surigao. I really miss it. Though markets here are nowhere near how it made me feel then, they still have their own appeal.:-)
Saturday is our Market day together. For years, Rich and I used to wake up early to go to Footscray Market or Queen Victoria Market to get our weekly supply of fresh produce. We are not as diligent now. We rarely go on a spending spree of organic yumminess because lately we have been unwell so we do not cook as much. We just eat out. I do from time to time still indulges this urge to have my market fix on my work days.
Yes, work days. I would leave earlier than usual on a Friday (and occasional Thursdays) to go to Queen Victoria Market.
I could spend the whole day in this place, it is massive and very inviting! It practically has everything! But I only have less than half an hour,
so I try to focus and just go straight to what we need. Easier said than done! After meats and veggies I stray to some fresh flowers, Spanish donuts and Borek.
Work colleagues would laugh as I spread some goodies on the staff room table. We share the fruits, the baked goods and the sweets. The rest I put in the fridge to take home.
Though I did some Friday shopping already, Rich and I still went to Queen Vic and Highpoint Green Grocers last Saturday. I was able to take my sweet time perusing the produce. I love quiet weekends with Rich in the Markets where we buy what we want to prepare for the week ahead. This time we bought plenty so maybe we'd cook up a storm :-)
But of course later on that weekend, we still ate out in Footscray with Mum :-)
